Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report early analysis show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.
An important representative commented the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
